Following the successes of Andy Hackbarth and Wilfried Tagbo at AX’s 2015 Ireland showcase tour, we are proud to announce that towering goalkeeper Zac Lubin will trial with Irish Premier League giants Cork City .
Lubin had recently finished playing the 2014 season for IFK Lulea of the Swedish First Division after impressing during AX’s 2014 showcase to Sweden. He was offered new terms by the club, but the ambitious shot-stopper chose to test himself against stronger opposition and try to earn himself a deal at a higher level.
The 6’5” Montanan faced Cork City during the tour, where the AX side went down 1-0. Despite the narrow loss, Lubin produced a string of quality saves which encouraged the opposition to offer him a trial.
Following Cork City’s second place finish in 2014, the Leesiders will be competing in the Europa League. The club have a great history, producing Premier League regulars Damien Delaney, Kevin Doyle and Shane Long in recent years.
