For young English forward Taylor Morgan, his professional soccer dreams took a stumble after he was released from Toronto FC in his MLS rookie season. However, through his experience on a recent European Showcase to Sweden, Morgan was able to display his top skills and earn a contract with Ostersunds FK of Sweden’s Superettan.
After growing up in the English youth system with clubs like Southampton and Queens Park Rangers, Morgan took his talents to George Mason University, where he earned a college degree in Psychology while impressing on the field. Each year in college, Taylor Morgan improved greatly. In his senior year, Morgan scored 13 goals to lead not only George Mason but also the entire conference in goals. He was drafted in the fourth round of the MLS draft by Toronto FC, but found limited opportunities and made just one substitute appearance early this year before being released in May.
Although this setback could have prematurely ended the young striker’s professional soccer career, Morgan utilized this opportunity to display his skills on a European Showcase.. These “Showcases” enable current professionals and elite players who aspire to play in Europe the chance to compete against European professional clubs. Providing top-level training and competition, this provides an excellent way to not only get noticed but also improve your skills.
For Taylor Morgan, his showcase led to a professional contract with Ostersunds FK of Sweden’s Superettan after only 5 days. We look forward to releasing more success stories from our Sweden Showcase.
