Adding to the tally of players scouted at the New York Pro Soccer Combine is Kevin Garcia, a defender who played college soccer at Villanova University before earning a short stint with the MLS club, New England Revolution. With his MLS experience not being what he had hoped for, Garcia decided to participate at the Pro Soccer Combine in order to gain exposure to a multitude of visiting pro soccer clubs.
Displaying his solid talents, Kevin Garcia has been rewarded with a trial with a Swedish Division 1 Norra club, IFK Lulea. Because of the large pool of American soccer players produced by the college soccer system in this country, there are a large number of players who are overlooked by MLS, NASL, or USL Pro. Knowing the high amounts of quality soccer players that are ready to take their next step and join a professional club, many European clubs are coming to America to scout and pick up prospective players.
Kevin Garcia looks every bit the part of a pro soccer prospect. Immediately put into the Villanova starting lineup upon his arrival to college, Garcia put in four great years of college soccer, making great defensive stops and even getting forward to notch several goals and assists throughout his time there. With a great size and skillset, Garcia could well become a model pro in the European soccer leagues.
AX Soccer Tours organizes Pro Soccer Combines in order to give players like Kevin Garcia a real shot at playing professional soccer. Having been noticed, Garcia will now head to Sweden on August 5th to take part in a trial with IFK Lulea and fight for a roster spot. We wish him the best of luck in this opportunity!
