After impressing during AX’s 2014 residential program in Örebro, Sweden, English midfielders Adam Brundle and Tyrell McLeod-Bentley have agreed terms with Karlslunds IF HFK of the Swedish Second Division.
The talented 21 year-olds were first seen at the Jacksonville, Florida combine in December 2013, and AX believed their performances merited further opportunities to display their skills in front of their large array of contacts in Europe.
The duo were invited on the 2014 showcase tours of both Turkey and Sweden, and despite attracting interest from the numerous scouts in attendance no concrete offers materialized. After a recommendation from AX, Brundle, who has a knack for creating time and space for himself in tight areas, impressed on a trial spell at Östersunds FK and was unlucky not to secure a contract at the Superettan side.
Undeterred, AX promptly invited them on the Örebro residential program in July 2014. A long unbeaten run by the AX side attracted much interest from a growing crowd of top European coaches, and it was in a game against Karslund that both Brundle and McLeod-Bentley shone in a 1-0 win.
Karlslunds IF HFK sporting director Andreas Östby was delighted to have snapped them up before his rivals: “We believe that Adam and Tyrelle were best on the field … we are very pleased to have recruited them to our club.”
Brundle’s combative approach and great vision, coupled with McLeod-Bentley’s trickery on the wing, are sure to be great assets for Karlslunds IF as they look to continue their proud history across numerous sports.
